Cottons For Summer Jean Peters, 20th Century-Fox star loves the outdoor, and finds that cottons are most practical for summer activities. A complete cotton supply lines her wardrobe. One of her summer cottons is a large plaid of lime and black which is a striking contrast to Mias Peter’s dark suntan. The dress is strapless—fashionably—with a full skirt, and features a matching kerchief for around her shoulders. Wrinkle-Proof Clothes The popular star, Ann Baxter, is very fond of travelling. Consequently, wrinkle-proof clothes are necessary. On her various trips she finds jersey particularly practical, so she has had a tri-colour woollen jersey ensemble made. Navy blue is used for the modified full skirt and soft cummerbund sash. The bodice, which is attached to the skirt, is snowy white and features three-quarter length sleeves and a high V neckline. The bolero of forest green is a striking contrast. It has a deep squared-off collar and long cuffed sleeves. With it, Miss Baxter wears navy blue kid pumps and handbag, white gloves, and a smart navy blue felt cloche trimmed with forest green binding. Basic Dresses Ida Lupino has several “basic” dresses —but in her wardrobe, “basic” doesn’t necessarily mean black. Miss Lupino often chooses rich browns or greens for her round-the-clock dresses. One very smart “basic” dress of brown is fashioned with a high round collar, which offers a perfect backdrop for scarves of jewellery. Of heavy crepe, the dress is styled with restricted skirt fullness stemming from trios of unpressed pleats on either side of the front and back. The tucked bodice has tiny stitched tucks that really stay put. The

sleeves are bracelet length, and narrowly cuffed, and the shoulders are only, slightly padded. A wide, inset belt minimises the waist, tapering across the back. With the dark rich brown dress, Miss Lupino wears brown suede pumps and handbag, and a bright yellow pilllbox hat and matching yellow gloves.
