Farmers May Obtain Machinery From Dollar Sources
Bay of Plenty farmers may next year be able to obtain farm machinery that is available from dollar sources only, according to a letter received by the secretary of Federated Farmers, Bay of Plenty Province, from the Dominion headquarters in Wellington. A survey is to be made by Federated Farmers in conjunction with importers, to find out the requirements of farmers throughout the country. Every farmer who requires machinery is asked to send in details as soon as possible to Wellington on the special survey forms. It is hoped to have the register of requirements prepared by the early part of April of next year, so that it can be presented to the Government. Delivery of machinery is expected towards the end of 1949, if the register is approved early enough by the Government.
