BRISTOL’S LEANING TOWER

It would cost something like £IOO,OOO to rebuild Bristol’s famous Temple Church, which was burnt out in the blitz of November, 1941. The leaning tower, 113 ft. high, 4ft. 10in-. out of perpendicular, was untouched by fire,, and if the Church is not rebuilt it will form the centre of a Garden of Rest, which should be beautified by the work of voluntary gardeners. The twelve-branched chandelier and the ancient Church plate had been removed to a place of safety before the Blitz.
