HARBOUR BOARD URGED TO PROCEED IN RECLAMATION

“I think now is the time for the Board to look into the question of reclamation,” said the chairman, Mr W. R. Boon, at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Harbour Board on Friday. “We should proceed with it as soon as possible, as the land is going to be valuable.” the war, Mr Boon added, and since then, very little building of business premises had been done. This however, would not continue indefinitely. “If we have sections available when restrictions are lifted,” he continued, “I don’t think we will have any difficulty in their sale. More businesses are being established in rural towns, Whakatane included, and it would be in the board’s interests to proceed with reclamation.” .
