League Of Mothers’ Meeting
The final meeting of the League of Mothers for this year, was held in the Knox Hall last Tuesday. Mrs Needham. Snr., presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. Apologies were received from Mesdames Smith and Jessop. Letters were received from Mrs A. Noble, Dumfries, the. link in Scotland, and Mrs Wilson, of Holland, both thanking members for parcels of food and clothing which had been greatly appreciated. Mrs A. W. F. Cole was enrolled as a member. Arrangements were made for the League picnic to be held on the last Tuesday of February at Mr and Mrs W. G. Gow’s residence at Edgecumbe. Business was kept at a minimum to enable the social programme as much time as possible. Visitors were extended a hearty welcome by the president and the League Choir opened with the number “No Room in the Inn”; Mrs Dodds played two delightful piano solos; a reading was given by Mrs Lysaght; Mrs Hepburn Jnr. gave an excellent- musical monologue and elocutionary item which was greatly appreciated; Mrs Spence sang two soprano solos, which delighted her audience; the choir gave two other Christmas numbers. Shoulder sprays were presented to visiting performers and a hearty vote of thanks was also accorded them. An interesting competition was won by Mrs Hepburn Snr. The president wished all present the compliments bf the season and afternoon tea brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
