Galatea Calf Club

TWENTY-FIVE ENTRANTS IN SHOW AT SCHOOL.

The Galatea School held its annual Calf Club show last Friday. Trophies were competed for by 25 entrants, making it a difficult task for the judge, Mr L. Brown, of Whakatane, -to ’ decide the winners. In presenting the „ trophies, Mr Brown complimented all on the high standard of entries. Miss Rossiter, the only entrant from Murupara for the Wilson Cup, was highly commended for her calf, losing the Cup by two points. ; . All prize winners will receive a framed photo of themselves and calves, first prize winners a coloured photo. Mrs D. Webb presented prizes for the Sweet Pea competition to Ellen Woller (first) and Helen and Maurice Caie (second). At the conclusion, the Chairman of the School Committee, Mr A. Webb, thanked Mr Brown for judging, also Messrs Paine, Thatcher and Judd for the transport of the calves. Results:— Pre School (Walsh Trophy): Jimmy Thatcher. . *■ Galatea Cup for condition: Ailsa Heard, Red Ribbon (also bag calf pellets donated by W. and R. Fletcher N.Z. Ltd)., Walter Simpson, Blue Ribbon, lan Judd, Orange Ribbon. New Zealand Loan . and Mercantile Agency Co’s Cup for Handling: Dawn Woller, Red Ribbon, Robyn Gear, Blue Ribbon, Ellen Woller, Orange Ribbon. Cutler Bros. Cup, Best Dairy Type: Carol Gear, Red Ribbon, Sam Rogers, Blue Ribbon, lan Judd, Orange Ribbon. Galatea Champion: Carol Gear, Purple Ribbon. (A bridle was presented to her by Mr Brown). Wilson Cup, contested by Murupara and Galatea schools, was won iby Carol Gear, of Galatea. ’ '
