Horse Goes Berserk In Plane
While being transported by air from France to America the four-year-old racehorse Djelal, who had been sold by M. Marcel Boussac to an American syndicate for £56,250, gave the groom and officers of the plane a nerve-racking time. Apparently maddened by the scent of dogs sharing the freight compartment in the aircraft, Djelal went berserk and flailed the protective padding from the inside of his box, and in spite of a hypodermic injection he continued lashing out at the hard sides of the box until his fetlocks were shattered.
He then , broke the restraining ropes and twisted himself on * his back, to die from exhaustion soon after the aeroplane landed.
