Gisborne-Auckland Service on Sundays
I Following on representations by the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, the Railways Department has decided to institutg a Sunday passenger road service link between Gisborne and Auckland. The service will operate both ways as. from next Sunday until the resumption of air services to and from Gisborne. At one time a regular passenger service used to run on Sundays between Gisborne and Auck- . land but this was discontinued some I considerable time ago. [ The question of continuance of i the service will depend on the public support given this additional | facility for travel. ; Another service which will fill a I long-felt want is the commencement of a weekly freight service ■ from Gisborne to Rotorua. This i service is also to be run on a trial basis. It is expected that the new freight service will commence in December. . y .
