Provincial Executive Of W.D.F.F. Seeks Better Communications
The Bay of Plenty Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers held their quarterly meeting in the County Council Chambers on Wednesday, delegates coming from Murupara, Galatea, Te Teko, Awakeri, Taneatua and Opotiki branches. Murupara branch asked for the support of the delegates in its appeal for better postal services—mails at present take 5 days for delivery. Taneatua branch also had a request that the executive support its proposal for an all-night telephone connection with Whakatane Post Office for cases of emergency. Tt was decided that the secretary, Mrs Cannell, should interview the postmaster on these matters. The Housekeeping Secretary, Mrs Barr, reported that the Division was again fortunate in having a Housekeeper and said she was booked up until the end of. February. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mrs Martin and the County Council.
