CALF CLUB DAY AT WAIMANA DRAWS GOOD CROWD
There was a good attendance of parents and visitors at the Calf Club day last Monday. The calves 3 brought before the judges by the t children were all quite good. The judges were Mr Stan Jurd, > Mr Len Looney and Mr Percy ; Looney. ’ Results:— .. . Junior class: Lionel Boynton 91 points, 1; Lynette King 89 points, 1 2; Patricia Eagle 88 ptoints, 3. : Intermediate class: Reginald Mc--1 Connell, 86 points, I', Alf Boynton, 1 79 points, 2; Richard Henderson, 76 points, 3. , • Senior class: Marlene Ward law, ■ 90 points, 1. Best lead calf: Marlene Wardlaw. Type: Reginald McConnell 1, Richard Henderson 2, Alf Boynton 3, Vaughan Mitchell 4. Champion calf: Reginald McConnell, who was presented with a. cup donated by Mr Eagle Snr., for the best 'calf. *. The Robert Fleming Memorial Cup, which is for competition between Waimana and Nukuhou Schools for -the champion calf, was also won by Reginald McConnell, 85J points. Next placings were, Bob Robinson 832, Marlene Wardlaw 82i, Lionel Boynton 83. Floral Work Display The display of floral work by the pupils was also very good. Results: — v Decorated saucer, Infants, boys: Laurence Boynton 1, Athol King 2, Boy Perakaki 3. Girls: Sally Tauhera 1, Carol Hampton 2, .Tangi Tauhera 3. ~ Decorated egg cup: Annette Henderson 1, Wharerata Mare and Bertha McLean 2, Orini Boynton 4. , Buttonhole: Frances Falkner 1, Valerie Linwood 2, Sylvia Cooper 3. ..... Boy’s buttonhole: Mauriki Heihel 1, Tuna Heihei 2, Tumoana Onekawa 3. . ■’ " ■ Shoulder spray: Orini Boynton 1, Polly Putiki 3. Fairy garden: Connie Te Rupe and Lucy Heiheir 1, equal, Bella Huriwai 3, Noti Onekawa and Mary Rua 4. Cooking Scones, girls: Valerie Linwood 1, Frances Falkner 2. Boys: Billy Wardlaw 1, Sidley Falkner 2. I Sponge ' cake, girls: Valerie Linwood 1, Frances Falkner 2. Boys: Sidley Falkner 1. Judgbs Thanked After lunch, Mr Potter, headmaster, thanked the judges for coming so far to judge the calves, their services being greatly appreciated and hoped all had an enjoyable time. A beautiful Christmas cake, made and donated by Mrs Potter for competition, was won by Mrs Reuben Looney.
