Trout Fishing At Ngongotaha

Mr Nelson Hawkins, of Edgecumbe, spent the first week of the fishing season at Ngongotaha. He reports. that fishing at first was very poor, numerous small fish being caught, and returned. A few only 3-41bs were landed at this period. Early evening and night fishing showed better results.

Though Mr Hawkins landed a rainbow trout 1211 b on a dry fly in the Waitete River, Ngongotaha, general condition of the fish was poor, His largest day fishing catch was 71bs from the Ohau Channel. Mr Hawkins last season c.aught the largest fish of the season, this being a brown trout of 131bs, from the Ngongotaha Stream, fishing in the evening. Mr J. Bell, Edgecumbe, caught a limit bag last Sunday, fishing at Lake Roto Ehu.
