Ohope’s New Year Sports Meeting

A special general meeting of the Ohope Progress League on Saturday night made final arrangements for the carnival sports meeting to be held at Ohope on January 1, and organisation work has now started in earnest. The Caledonian Society has placed its sports ground at the League’s disposal for the day, and the detailed programme should soon be ready for publication. It will include athletic, motor-cycling, highland dancing and novelty events, amongst which will be the Bay of Plenty tug-o’-war championship. Side shows, refreshment stalls and competitions will add to the carnival atmosphere.
