MR T. MORGAN TO RETIRE AFTER 41 YEARS’ SERVICE

After 41 years in the public service, Mr T. Morgan, Clerk of the Court and Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages for the district of Whakatane, will retire on superannuation at the end of the year. Mr Morgan entered the public service in 1908, and was first attached to the Magistrate’s and Warden’s Court at Kumara, where he was born. In 1910 he was transferred as a Junior to Reef ton and later became Mining Registrar and Receiver of Gold Revenue there. In 1922 he went to the Waihi Magistrate’s and Warden’s Court and after 9 years there was sent to Dargaville as Clerk and Registrar and also Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the district of Kaipara. Mr Morgan has spent 9 years in the local Court. His retirement takes effect as from December 31, after which he will have 6 weeks accumulated leave and three months’ retiring leave. His successor has not yet been announced.
