County Finances
The finances of the county are still in a very sound position, stated the chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, in his report presented at the annual meeting >of the Whakatane County Council yesterday. The year ended March 31, 1948, finished with a cash balance of £16,133. This was a reduction of £3OOO on the previous year hut this could he explained when the general all round increase in costs, replacement of plant and wages was taken into account.
