Mr J. L. Burnett was unanimously re-elected chairman of the Whakatane County Council at the annual meeting yesterday. Members of the Council paid tributes to Mr Burnett’s work for the county. Mr C. A. Suckling, who has been a member of the Whakatane Golf Club’s committee since 1914 and its treasurer for 14 years, has resigned the latter office. He was presented with a cheque from the club on closing day when the president, Mr B. S. Barry, thanked him for his work in achieving the Club’s present sound financial position.
