HAIL DAMAGE AFFECTS TE TEKO FLOWER SHOW
Poor Entries In ! Most Sections The effect of the heavy hail storm that hit Te Teko on Monday was still evident yesterday at the second annual flower show of the Te Teko Red Cross Society, held in the Te Teko Hall. Entries in all •classes were very poor and the secretary, Mrs P. B. Balfour, said that this was due almost entirely to the havoc wrought by the hail. The show could not be compared with the outstanding one held last year. Obviously the standard of blooms was not as high as in previous shows. However, there were some good entries and in their marking the judges took into account the hail damage. During the afternoon a demonstration of floral work was given by Mrs V. Peck, Otakiri. The prizes were presented by Mrs W. Sullivan, Whakatane. Results: — ROSES Judge: Mr V. Marx, Edgecumbe. Four distinct colours: Mrs D. Mac•donald 1, Mrs N. Macdonald 2. Red: Mrs D. Macdonald 1, Mrs N.
