Ohope Women’s Institute

- Mrs Sorenson presided over the monthly meeting of the Ohope Women’s Institute recently. It was a busy afternoon full of interest and after the letters were read a new member, Mrs D. C. Stevens, was welcomed. At a request from the Federation for a delegate to attend a meeting to arrange the programme for the Annual Eisteddfod, Mrs Critchley' was chosen.

Trustees for the Institute Savings Funds selected (Mrs White and Mrs Dickson) and further arrangements were made for funds for the Children’s Xmas Party, in connection with which a further card party is to be held this week. A talk on interesting places visited was well received by the members, Mrs Danks’ travels in the Islands and Mrs White’s experiences at Madam Taussaud’s wax works being most interesting. On Mrs Dixon’s motion it was decided to advise Mrs F. Cutler that the Institute is behind the suggestion to form a Parent-Teacher Association at Ohope. The results of the competitions, judged by Mesdames White and Thommason' were:— Most useful article for hospital: Mrs Sorenson. Bowl of flowers for effect: Mrs Critichley. Several donations were received, and afternoon tea brought a happy meeting to a conclusion.
