Bay Of Plenty Trotting Club’s First Meeting Draws Great Attendance

In bright sunny weather, before a crowd estimated at between two and three thousand, the Bay of Plenty Trotting Club’s .first meeting was held at the Gate Pa course, Tauranga, on Saturday. Results:— First Tauranga Handicap, 1£ miles: Mr L. Schultz’s Operetta (B. Stephenson) 1, Messrs J. & R. Stormont's Rolling Home (M. Stewart) 2, Mr A. G. Ryland’s Blaire (W. Gee) 3. Won by a length, with a head between second and third. Time 2.50 4-5. Second Tauranga' Handicap, H miles: Mr W. J. Wheeler’s Great Dictator (Trainer) 1, Mr A. G. Downe’s Beau Raider (G. .Gray) 2, Mr M. S. Haslar’s Noble Crest (G. Cole) 3. Won by 2 lengths, a head. Time 2.55. First Te Puke Handicap, 1J miles: Mr R. C. Mason’s Multiplex (C. Goodhall) 1, Mr G. Egan’s General Manager (Mitchell) 2, Mr J. K. Amesbury’s Loyal Globe (F. Smith) 3 Won by § length, 3 lengths. Time--3.26 3-5.
