Manawahe W.I. Birthday Party
Spring certainly produced a perfect day for the 19th birthday of 1 the Manawahe Women’s Institute. A garden party, at Mrs J. Morice’s re- I sidence, was held to celebrate the day, which was bright and. warm with sunshine: The gardens looked very refreshed after the recent, rains and gailycoloured flowers splashed brightness against the lawns. Visitors were present from Taneatua and Rotorua, and everyone had a very enjoyable day with games and competitions. The “Draw your neighbour” competition brought forth some hidden talent and certainly lots of fun. Cheery good-byes were called at the close of a very happy afternoon when all present headed for their respective homes. Monthly competitions:— Cotton frock parade: Mrs Baldwin 1, Mrs Mikkelsen 2. Best flower: Mrs Baldwin 1, Mrs Ansell 2. Best shrub: Mrs Goldsmith 1, Miss Hopkins 2.
