Government’s Defence Policy Wanted Known
A request to the Dominion executive of the R.S.A. to do all in its power to bring the question of the implementation of a definite defence policy by the Government before the public as a live issue demanding an immediate decision, has been made by Dunedin R.S.A.’s executive.
“In pressing this demand,” said a statement released by the Dunedin executive, “the association is resolved to give the Government all its support in this . vital national matter and to insist that the promised • legislation should be brought down before the close of the session.”
“It was recognised that throughout the war period many statesmanlike decisions were made by the Government regarding the use of the armed forces in the various theatres of war. The R.S.A. looked for the same statesmanlike lead in the difficult state of uncertain peace,” said the statement.
