FULL APPROVAL TO IMPROVE ROAD AT OHOPE BEACH

Full approval for a scheme of forming Ohope East, into a special rating area for the purpose of making a series of permanent improvements to the roadway running along the beach, was agreed upon by. a well attended meeting of the ratepayers concerned at the Captain’s Cabin, Ohope, on Wednesday night. Mr F. G. Cutler was in' the chair The scheme was first put .forward by councillor W. M. Clark. It was enlarged upon and fully explained to the meeting by the county clerk, Mr C. G. Lucas, and the county engineer, Mr C. H. Brebnei’, who both explained that the scheme, when completed, would provide the beach with urgently-required improvements.

After some discussion the meeting decided unanimously to approve of the petition now being circulated and appointed the following committee to further the signing of it: Messrs J. T. McCowan (convener), Turnbull, N. Yardley and T. Danks.
