COMING OF AGE Bright Party At Otakiri

A bright party was held at the Otakiri Hall on Saturday evening when about 100 guests assembled at the invitation of Mr and Mrs J. Aird, to celebrate the' coming of age of their daughter, June. The hall ,was tastefully decorated with nikau palms, streamers , and balloons, and the gay paper hats (all home made and very attractive) worn by every guest, made the party atmosphere just right. The evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Mrs Armstrong, Mrs G. Anderson and Mr Blake.

A photographer had a very busy time coping with the many demands from happy groups. Highlight of the evening was the delicious sitdown supper. Tables were very quickly set in the. hall and everyone sat down together, pride of place being given to the beautiful cake with its 21 candles.

Mr Tunnicliffe, an uncle of the guest of honour, proposed the birthday toast and presented the key. The cutting of the cake was quite a little ceremony which the photographer duly recorded. The many beautiful presents on display testified to the popularity of the guest of the evening. Mr Lord, in his capacity of M.C., kept things moving merrily until a late hour, when the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
