Delegates from all over the Auckland province, including Whakatane, attended the annual conference of the League of Mothers held recently at Auckland. The gathering opened with a. service in which the scriptures were read by Mrs J. A. C. Allum, mayoress of Auckland, while the service itself was conducted by the Rev. David Pryor. The Rev. Pryor spoke on the little child and the effect his early surroundings would have in his reaction in life. It was most important that the life of a child in a home should' be happy, and that he grow up in a pleasant atmosphere.
