Dynamited Trout: Poachers Fined
Three men who were caught by a Gisborne fisherman using dynamite in order to obtain trout from the Waioeka River on March 27 last, were charged before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Gisborne last week. The three men, William Robert Wilson, Parnell, Kepa Wilson, Muriwai, and Pera Thompson, Manutuke, all of whom were represented by Mr L. C. Parker, each faced two charges. The first was that at Waioeka on March 27 they used an explosive substance to catch or destroy fish in the Waioeka River and the second that at Waioeka they took trout, with the use of an unsportsmanlike device, to wit, an explosive substance. A plea of guilty was entered and each man was fined £5 and costs on each charge
