Ohope School Site No Nearer

Temporai'y buildings have been allocated by the Auckland Education Board for the proposed Ohope School, but the whole proposition is being held up for want- of the consent of the Minister of Lands to the Ohope Domain Board’s leasing the site to the Board. As will be recalled, the site proposed is the picnic ground opposite the Caledonian sports ground, and there seems no ground for optimism concerning early settlement of the lease. It appears that there is a certain reluctance on the Minister’s part to deprive the public at large of the picnic ground by permitting the lease to go through.
