ALL BUSINESSES TO OBSERVE SHORT BREAK TOMORROW

Arrangements For Vice-Regal Vsit At its general meeting on Thursday night, the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce decided to back up the Mayor in the request that all business houses in the town should close be- ' tween 11 a.m. and noon tomorrow in honour of the Vice-Regal visit and to allow a full attendance at the civic reception at the Rock at 11.15. The following traffic arrangements are announced by the Police:— Motorists • ■ are requested, when proceeding along Commerce ■ Street towards town tomorrow morning to make a detour to the left by the Borough Council Chambers and, if attending the civic reception, to park their cars in the parking space at the end of the Strand. Other vehicles are to continue along Quay Street. From the Borough Chambers to Whittle’s cycle shop is a no-parking area tomorrow, as also is the street from the County Council Chambers to 50 yards east of the Commercial Hotel. All vehicles parked near the Commercial Hotel will have to be shifted by 10 a.m. Motorists and the public in- general are asked to co-operate with the authorities in seeing that all the arrangements work smoothly.
