Full Programme For Short Visit Following is the full program- . me for the brief visit of the Governor General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, and Lady Freybferg to Whakatane next Tuesday:— .10.15 a.m. Their Excellencies arrive at the Commercial HQtel, to be met by the Mayor, The Mayoress and the Town Clerk. ;10.30 a.m. Visit to the Whakatane District High School. In the event of inclement weather the function will be held in the Winter Show BuildN ings. a.m. In the event of fine weather, there will be a Civic reception at Poha- * turoa Rock, and in the event of inclement weather at the Regent Theatre. The Guard of Honour, No. 35 .Squadron Air Training Corps (Officer Commanding: Flight/Lieut. B. V. Signal D.F.C.), will be form?.ed up in close proximity to the .'dais. No other units will be on parade. The Whakatane Citizens .Band under Bandmaster W. Jar- . rett, will be in attendance. There will be no formal address, but brief speeches by the Mayor, by Mr J. L. Burnett, Chairman of the Whakatane County Council, by a Member of Parliament (if present), by Mr D. S. Wilson, President of the Whakatane Branch of the Returned Services Association. » At the conclusion of the Civic .-reception Their Excellencies will have the opportunity of meeting .members of other Local Bodies and ; prominent citizens of the town. / 12 noon. Informal gathering on the lawn at the Commercial Hotel, at which His Excellency will have the opportunity of meeting members of the Whakatane Returned Services Association. (In the event of inclement weather the gathering will be held in the Commercial Hotel Lounge). T 2.30 p.m. Investiture and presentation of medals. ;1 p.m. Civic luncheon at Commercial Hotel. 1.45 p.m. Their Excellencies leave for Opotiki.
