Poland’s Recovery: More Food Exports

In the first four months of 1948, Poland started to export many .goods which so far have not been -'exported, at the same time increasing the import of several foodstuffs —according to recent reports. A total of 4,500 tons of 'bacon was exported between January 1, 1948, and May 1, 1948. In the same period, '2,900 tons of pork, 13,000 tons of -potatoes and 2,900 tons of fish wore -exported-—in the same four months -of 1947, there was no export of these -foodstuffs. Simultaneously, deliveries of foodstuffs already being . exported increased: sugar deliveries from 3,100 tons in January-June, 1947, to 90,400 tons in January-June this year. In the same period, egg -exports increased from 200 tons to ‘2,700 tons, chicory roots from 200 tons to 1,500 tons.
