Otakiri W.I.
At the October meeting of the Otakiri Women’s Institute Mrs Peck presided over a good attendance of members. The roll call “A small jar of jam” was well responded to. As it was Hospital Day these jars of jam together with all competition entries were gent to patients at the Whakatane Hospital. Mrs Stewart, of Whakatane W.1.,gave a very interesting and amusing account of the experiences in the London crowds on- the day of the Royal Wedding, and a very graphic description of the wedding procession.
Competition winners:— Single, flower: Mrs Gibson 1, Mrs Carr 2, Mrs J. L. Murray 3. Double flower: Mrs Gibson 1, Mrs Murray 2, Mrs Keir 3. Best vegetable:'Mrs Winters 1, Mrs Hutton 2, Mrs Peck 3. Paper pulp ash tray: Mrs Mackrell 1, Mrs Peck 2, Mrs Young 3. Tin of biscuits: Mrs Peck 1, Mrs Missen 2, Mrs Gibson 3. Sponge: Mrs Missen 1, Mrs Mackrell 2, Mrs Steenson 3.
