Wedding

Stafford-Bush—Black

Knox Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, was the scene of the pretty wedding of Miss Jean Elizabeth Black, youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Malcolm Black, of Te Teko, and Mr Staff ord-Bush, second son of Mr and Mrs Stafford-Bush, of Devonport. Rev. J. H. Starnes, of Edgeeurn u e, Oifkiab-d. The bride, who was escorted by Mr W. Glen, wore a trained gown of embroidered white Swiss organdie over white taffeta. The bodice featured an off-the-shoulder frilled neckline and the full gathered skirt was caught up in front with fcinv taffeta frills. The full length bridal veil of tulle was caught to the head by a coronet of orange blossom and white flowers, and she carried a lovely bouquet of white stock and hyacinths. For “something old” she wore a lovely old gold necklace, lent for the occasion by Mrs W. Glen. Matron-of-honour was Mrs C. K. Rowsell, of Tauranga, and Miss Audrey Baskett, was bridesmaid. Both wore pretty frocks of daffodil yellow marquisette over gold taffeta, fashioned on similar lines to the bride’s. They carried bouquets of blue flowers. The two brothers of the bridegroom were Mr W. Stafford-Bush, best man, and’ Mr J. Staffordvßush, groomsman. The hostess was the sister of the bride, Miss Isobel Black, who was wearing a frock of garland blue moire crepe, a shoulder spray of cream and gold flowers and a picture hat of deep crqam straw. After the ceremony a cheery reception was held in the King Street Hall, after which the happy couple left by car on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a powder blue frock, with an off-white angora coat and small natural sisol hat.
