TANEATUA BULL TOPS SOUTH BAY BREEDERS’ SALE
J - ' .7 . i Record Price For Club Of 150gns The South Bay of Plenty Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Club’s An- * nual Show and Sale at the A. and p. Showgrounds, Whakatane, attracted buyers from the East Coast, Qpotiki, Galatea, Te Puke and throughout the Whakatane district. The show prior to the sale was keenly followed, and the bulls paraded were a credit to local breeders. The judge, Mr P. Miers, Morrinsville, considered the general quality and development of the bulls compared very favourably with tne standard of Shows at recent major fixtures. This can be well explained and yet may tend to be overlooked by the fact that club members retain their tops for this Show and Sale.
The top price, 150 guineas, established a record for the club in that it is the highest figure at which a bull has been sold at any of the club’s sales. The vendor was Mr N. Reid, Taneatua, and the purchaser Mr Sonny White, Murupara. The bujl, Collindale Volunteer, Lot 2 in the catalogue, was adjudged the champion yearling at the Show. He is the son of the proven sire “Tararua Golden Prince” and “Leon Omega” V.H.C., with four consistent butterfat records. i Show awards follow: Junior yearlings: Lot 131 E. H. Hill 1, 46 F. R.
