Health Stamp Campaign Whakatane’s Health Stamp sales campaign starts on Friday, when members of the Chamber of Commerce will be canvassing the business area. They are confident that first day sales this year are going to beat last year’s record.
Speed Limits Speed limits/on approved sealed and (concrete roads should be 50 m.p.h. and on other than sealed or concrete roads 40 m.p.h. That is to be the Whakatane County Council’s answer to the Commissioner of Transport’s circular asking for local bodies’ opinions.
Whakatane Lyceum Club After a lapse of over five years members of the Whakatane Lyceum Club will commence their weekly social afternoons on Friday next, October 1. Mrs E. T. Dawson is the new president, and hopes to welcome many new, as well as the old members.—P.B.A.
New “No Parking” Area In view of the hazard caused by heavy traffic and parked vehicles at the hotel corner at Edgecumbe the Whakatane County Council decided yesterday to declare a “no parking” area 30ft either side of the corner. The owner of a garage building that encroaches on the roadway is to.be asked to shift it. -
