Bobby Locke May Compete In N.Z. Open Golf Championship
. Thi£ year’s national championships at Balmacewan promise to provide, a brand of golf of a quality and in- *. terest not seen for many years. The standard of New Zealand golf has fully emerged from the doldrums during the war, and the general play in the championships may reach in all time high. Members of the New Zealand team will have just returned from Australia, and com-, petition there will have brought. them to a peak that may see the shattering of Andy Shaw’s long standing record of 284 in the Open. The title how’ever may not be won by a New Zealander. It is confidently expected that world-famous Bobby Locke will be on hand to contest the Open championship, f Last November, Slazengers (Australia) Pty., Ltd., announced that Locke would tour Australia and New Zealand towards the end of this year and later reports have confirmed that the intended tour will probably eventuate. .•
