RANGITAIKI RUGBY SEASON ROUNDED OFF
Smoko And Prize Giving Evening Followers of Rugby football and oth’er sports gathered in good numbers at the Ofakiri Hall on Saturday night for the usual presentation of trophies won under the Rangitaiki Rugby Sub-Union this year. Entertainment took the form of a smoke concert, with the emphasis on informality, and a gay time was spent with song and 1 story, the wheels of the whole affair being judiciously oiled with good ale. Te Teko seniors, who nearly collected the Pile Cup from Paroa on Saturday to add to the bag, received the Smith Shield as winners of the competition, and the Duff Cup, the knock-out trophy. Thornton juniors' were also double winners taking home the Innes Shield for the championship and the Lion Cup knock-out trophy. Rangitaiki B grade representatives were congratulated on their performance in winning the Moore Brothers Shield from Opotiki last year and holding it this year in the face of challenges from Opotiki, Whakatane, Te Puke and Galatea.
