SPLENDID ENTRIES AND GOOD ATTENDANCE: FRIDAY’S EXHIBITION ACCLAIMED PRONOUNCED SUCCESS l • From the time it was opened by the Mayor of Whakatane, Mr B. S. Barry, on Friday afternoon, the Women’s Institute Home Industries show conducted by the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women’s Institutes, attracted steady patronage. There were over 950 entries, and displays in all sections were highly creditable.
Mrs K. Armstrong, organising secretary, went through a hard day’s work at the end of a lot of patient toil, but she was keen to give credit to all who had -helped, particularly the judges, Mr A. W. Winstone, the [Legion of Frontiersmen, Mr H. G. Warren, Mr Ted Briggs of Onepu, nnd Mr W. Dreghorn for his art display and Mrs F. Mayo, assistant- ' Afternoon tea, organised by the 'Whakatane W.I. catered for country -appetites, and the tea room did substantial trade.
