Speed Cop Stumped
Back from Denver, Sam Marx, M.G.M. producer, not only returned with data for his semi-document-ary story, “The Denver Murder,” but a new “truth is stranger than fiction” anecdote. In Denver he had an appointment with Warden Roy Best, of the Colorado State Prison. While the two discussed business, Best’s chauffeur drove the car around the city. Soon he was stopped by a traffic cop and cited for a minor violation. The officer was chagrined. When he asked for the culprit’s address, it was the Colorado State Prison, and the chauffeur was in for life! “Just what can I get,” he observed, “that I haven’t got.”
