Pleasant Evening At Edgecumbe

A pleasant social evening arranged by the Parent-Teacher Association, Edgecumbe, was held at the school on Monday evening when there was a good attendance of teachers, parents and interested friends. An attractive programme of entertainment had been arranged, including competitions, an elocutionary item by Mrs Hepburn, pianoforte solo Miss P. Walton and Mr A. Black violin. A musical (J »quiz ably conducted by Mr R. Thompson, was won by Mr P. Fraser. The highlight of the evening was an interesting and instructive talk by Mr Dreghorn, of Whakaftane, on the subject of “Astronomy.” ‘Mr Dreghorn presented his subject in a simple but concise manner to a very appreciative audience.
