Keen Interest In Motor Cycle Club’s Annual Meeting Keen interest continues in the Bay of Plenty Motor Cycle Club, and 23 members attended the annual meeting on Wednesday riight, when the following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr R. A club run to the Mount was arranged for Sunday this week, a steeplechase and long jump competition i§ to be held in conjunction with the basketball tourney on September 25, and a sports day on October 2. Prize money exceeding £4O is going to be offered on October 2, and the club expressed its appreciation of donations towards ,it of £2 10s each from Messrs A. Marsh snr., K. Goodwin and P. Bigwood.
WILL INJURED PLAYERS HAVE CHANCE OF TOUR? A question of current interest is whether players 'who were compelled to withdraw from the Rugby trials through injuries -will receive consideration for selection in the All Black team for South Africa. Several prominent players in both Islands have had to take a rest, either through injuries or because of illness. In the case of some, the selectors were already satisfied either one way or the other. In other instances/ however, at least an"element of doubt remained.' WELLINGTON RUGBY TAKES SEVERE JOLT Wellington Rugby must have received a severe jolt when only two of' its representatives were considered worthy of inclusion in the 30 players for the final North Island All Black trial, while another has been included in the ten emergencies. Auckland has 13 players in the selected\ 30 and no emergencies; Waikato five and two; Taranaki one and three; Wellington and Hawke’s Bay two and one each; Wairarapa and Wanganui two and none each; Poverty Bay one and one; Bay of Plenty and North Auckland one and none; Manawatu and Bush each one emergency. Tomorrow’s Rugby Teams United juniors to play.
