Anti-Fly Campaign

In his monthly report to the Whakatane Borough Council, Mr A. R. Knights, sanitary inspector, said the anti-fly campaign, so far as Whakatane was concerned, would “kick off” on Tuesday, October 12, with a film show at St John’s Hall. “Unfortunately,” he commented, “the new refuse tip will not be in operation for the campaign, but it is hoped that it will be, and the old tip adequately sealed, before the hot weather. When this is done I feel sure there will be a great reduction in the fly population in the town area.”
