OHOPE MAY HAVE OWN SCHOOL TO OPEN AFTER XMAS

There is hope that there will be some sort of building for Ohope children to start with their own school next year. The whole proposition is at present held up for Ministerial consent to the lease of Domain Board land by the Education Department. It will be recalled that some time ago, the Department entered into an agreement to lease a piece of Ohope Domain Board land. Next step was for the Domain Board to apply for the consent of the Minister of Lands to the lease. That application has been made, and a reply is expected soon.. It is understood the Education Board contemplates a three-room-ed school, and there are grounds for hoping that the building will be pushed ahead as soon as the lease is finalised. . '
