Edgecumbe Cricket Club Getting Under Way
There was a good attendance at the Edgecumbe meeting for the purpose of reforming the local Cricket Club. It was found that at the present time there were at least 18 interested players and it was decided unanimously to reform the club. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr O. V. Marx; president, Mr A. Blake; secretary-treasurer, jMr L. K. Simpson; committee, 1 Messrs L. Thurlow, K. Tunnicliffe, K. Phillips, K. Civil, T. G. Stevenson, B. Cornwall, I. Campbell; social committee, Messrs L. Thurlow, ; A. Blake, K. Civil, D. Cornwall; delegates, Messrs K. Simpson, D. Cornwall. j It was found the cost to purchase I sufficient gear to outfit the club j would be very high and an endeavour is being made to contact some i defunct club to try and, procure ! good second-hand gear. I It was decided to approach the Edgecumbe Domain Board for the | use of the Domain grounds for the summer, and and to try to obtain ! permission for the laying down of a concrete pitch. It was decided to ! call another general meeting as soon 1 as all the informal ion required was obtained and the club would then get under way. | Donations were received from ! Messrs A. Blake, T. G. Stevenson, and K. Tunniclifl’e with appreciation by all present. Subscriptions for this season were set at 25s for seniors and 12/6 for juniors (17 ■. years and under)..
