Opotiki County Engineer Retires
After 35 years’ service to the Opotiki County Council as engineer and two years as assistant engineer, Mr W. W. Upton has announced his intention of retiring at the end of the year. The chairman, Mr W. A. Gault, in tracing the record of Mr Upton during the past 37 years, expressed regret that the time had come for Mr Upton to retire. He had given the , council of his best over a long period, and at times had a hard job to do, with funds not always avail- . able. , All members of the council joined with the chairman in paying tributes to the work of Mr Upton during his long term as engineer. The council has granted Mr Upton : six months’ leave.
