Wellington's Windfall Wellington City will benefit by the removal of the exchange rate. An immediate effect will be a saving for the present year of approximately £SOOO and next year, when the council loan of £200,000 is due to be repaid, a capital saving 'of - £49,000. Run Of Bad Luck Old Sid Fry, of Perth, is back home again, 82 not out, after 13 months in hospital. It started when he slipped on a tram line early in 1947 and broke his nose. Next day he fell over a bedpost and broke his leg and pelvis. After nine months in hospital he was about to go home .again when he tried a strange pair, of crutches, fell over, and brdke his wrist. Now he’s all patched up again.
