Houses Allocated To Ex-Servicemen
A further 156 State" rental houses were allocated to ex-servicemen tenants during July period under the 50 per cent allocation system. This brought the number of tenancies so allocated to 8825 at the end of that month. District allocations to ex-service-men as at the end of July, with those for July itself given in parentheses, are: Auckland-North Auckland 2572 (39), Waikato-Bay of Plenty 688 (15), Hawke’s Bay-Pov-erty Bay 402 (13), Taranaki 253 (4), Wellington Province (including Wanganui, Palmerston North, Masterton and the Hutt Valley) 3082 (42), Nelson-Marlborough-Westland 214 f 5), Canterbury Province 944 (26), Otago Province 480 (5), Southland 190 (7), totals 8825 (156).
