• Despite the prevalence of influenza in the district there was a good attendance of members of the Awakeri Women’s Division of Federated Farmers at the August meeting in the Awakeri Hall. Mrs Haultain presided. ; > ... It was /decided ,to hdld a spring flower display next month: A second quilt made of 8” filled squares made by members was on display, and it was decided to send it through the Red Cross overseas: Mrs Cannell gave a most interesting talk on her visit to the Dunedin Conference and the work which was done there. She was presented with a shoulder spray by Mrs Haultain. Competitions for the day resulted:— f Flower: Mrs L. Carter 1, Mrs Barr 2, Mrs Rust 3. ) Fruit: Mrs N. Carter 1, Mrs N. McDonald 2, Mrs McGougan 3. Vegetable: Mrs F. Matchitt 1, Mrs R. Rae 2, Mrs Fabish 3. Best jar of marmalade: Mrs H. MacDonald 1, Mrs F. Matchitt 2, Mrs N. Carter 3. A toy dog was won by Stewart Sutton. Afternogm tea concluded the proceedings. ___
