Dairy Company’s Tribute To Mr & Mrs McCracken: Presentation, Ceremony

On Tuesday afternoon directors and representatives of the shareholders met at the Rangitaiki Dairy Company’s Board room to pay a tribute to Mr and Mrs W. A. McCracken. Mr S. C. Spence, Charimaix of Directors, outlined the activities of the Dairy Company under Mr McCracken’s chairmanship, and spoke very highly indeed of the former chairman’s ability, unselfishness and devotion to the interests of the shareholders. When handing Mr McCracken a Salver tea service and salver, a pair of binoculars and a cheque, on behalf of the directors and shareholders, Mr Spence mentioned that one and all felt the deepest gratitude for the able and friendly manner in which Mr-McCracken had carried out difficult and exacting duties. Mr W. R. Boon, deputy-chairman, fully supported Mr Spence’s remarks. The Board room table having been attractively arranged and a most enjoyable afternoon tea having been served by Mrs Spence and Mrs Boon, Mr Spence called on Messrs Alan Barr, W. J. Murray; Alex McLean and'Eruera Manuera to few words. These speakers made it clear that Mr McCracken had not only gained the utmost respect of Pakeha and Maori as a chairman of directors, but had secured their deep and lasting friendship. All speakers mentioned. the support given by Mrs McCracken and expressed their, gratitude for all she had done and in particular for her generous hospitality. Mr McCracken in reply said that his duties had been a great pleasure in that he always had the friendship and co-operation of the directors, shareholders and members of the staff. On behalf of Mrs McCracken and himself he expressed his appreciation of the attractive gifts which would serve to remind them of happy days associated with . large and, rapidly growing Dairy Company.
