EFFORT TO REVIVE HORTICULTURAL SHOW
A public meeting is to be held on Wednesday under the auspices of the Whakatane Beautifying Society to promote the holding of a Horticultural Show. Old residents will recall with pleasure that 20 years ago and earlier the - Horticultural Show was an annual event that created great interest in the community and was always an outstanding success. Indeed, the display of flowers was worthy of a large centre and evoked most favourable comment from outside visitors. In the intervening years there has been a remarkable increase in-the population of the Borough and of the Qhope district and in consequence there are more lovers of flowers than ever before, so the organisers feel there is every justification for the belief that the resuscitar tion of the Horticultural Show will prove even more worthy of the town and district.
