Tomorrow's Motor-Cycling Should Prove Exciting
Tomorrow, Whakatane people will have the opportunity of seeing some of the finest motor cycle riders in the Dominion in action at the Bay of Plenty Motor, Cycle Club's bill climb on the tar-sealed surface of Hillcrest road. The course is approximately 600 yards long, with three good bends, and the fast riders will probably complete it in about 30 seconds. Spectators will be accommodated on the sides of the hill adjacent to the road. Though the course is not a particularly steep one, it is very fast, which calls for good riding and quick thinking. Hill climbs are usually conducted on grass, but the number of entries received indicate that the Bay club's decision to try it on tar-seal has proved popular. There is £56 in prize money on offer, and the contest has attracted top-ranking professionals from Auckland to Wellington.
