United Winners Of Whakatane Junior Laurels Last Saturday saw the final of the Whakatane junior competition in which the United Club’s junior team was once again victorious, being unbeaten throughout, with a total of 23 points. Nearest competitor was Paroa with 16 points. A disappointing feature of the competition, at the latter stages, was the lack of spirit shown by some of the back markers, who defaulted, thus crippling the competition, and the continunty of games. A special feature of. the day’s pro- . gramme is a match between Sacred Heart College and a specially selected team from Whakatane. This game is expected to provide that sparkling Rugby which is only achieved by College teams. Sacred Heart shared competition honours with King’s College at Auckland, this season.
