Miss M. Miller, of Ohope, left Whakatane on Saturday for Auckland on a fortnight’s holiday. Miss M. M. V. Farrell returned to Whakatane during the week-end after a fortnight’s holiday in Auck- ■ land and Te Awamutu. Mr S. R. Luttreil has returned from a holiday in the King Country, accompanied by his sister, Mrs I. McKenzie, who is spending a week’s holiday at Whakatane. Tribute to the memory of Sea Scout Commissioner Stan Miller was paid by County Scout Commissioner C. Kingsley-Smith in his report to the annual conference of' the Bay of Plenty Boy Scouts Association on Saturday night, and the conference stood in silence as a mark of respect. Mrs J. E. Winstone, of Whakatane, has been elected to the Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, also to the Dominion Council of the Order of St John and the New Zealand ' Red Cross.
